Who Can Play Judo?

Anyone can paly Judo, from ages 5 to 80+ years old. It does not discriminate with race, religion, Nationality, or politics. The only limitation is your desire and commitment to play. The United States has about 25,000 players. Other countries have much greater participation. It is practiced from Europe, to Russia, the far and middle east, and South America.

Judo is recognized and practiced in the Olympics and para-Olympics. It is one of the few sports that the visually impaired can play in a regular environment. With some accommodation mentally handicap or impaired people can also participate.

Judo is used throughout the world for basic and advanced law enforcement training. Many law enforcement personnel chose to practice in their off hours to stay fit and sharp for when they might need the skills. They appreciate the dual benefit in their profession.

Many militaries around the world use judo to begin their soldiers combative training. The movements and practices compliment the eventual use of weapons and other tactics.

As in most sports, there are opportunities in coaching and officiating as one’s competitive career comes to an end due to age or injury.

Judo is a wonderful spectator sport. With today technology is so much easier to watch and get motivated to play. It takes time to develop and play well, but like anything in life it is worth it.
